Matisse Software Introduces Matisse 8.1 with Data Exchange Innovations.

Mountain View, CA - November 12, 2007 – Matisse Software today announces the immediate availability of Matisse 8.1, the next-generation data management platform to build and deploy cost effective dynamic data-driven applications.

Matisse 8.1 introduces new capabilities for extraction, transformation and loading of data to help organizations rapidly move data from relational or XML sources into Matisse richer data model. This new version of Matisse offers extended features to accelerate the data synchronization between Matisse databases and relational or XML databases thus enabling Matisse to seamlessly integrate within the organization data management eco-system.

“Our customers rely on Matisse to deploy agile, flexible and dynamic business solutions, and are often faced with the daunting task of migrating legacy data;” said Claude Ezran, Vice President of Marketing of Matisse Software. “We have responded to our customer needs by extending our ETL solution to enable an easy and fast migration path into Matisse databases.”

Some of the highlights of Matisse 8.1 are as follows:

  • Matisse Data Transformation Services have been extended to ease and accelerate the conversion of relational data into Matisse. Matisse DTS now offers richer options for the extraction, transformation and loading of multimedia, large binary and text data as well as list types. Matisse DTS also provides new options to preserve the order of the elements in one-to-many associations when links are re-established.
  • Matisse XML Manager now supports a new set of options to better manage very large XML files as well as multimedia data. It also provides performance improvements for both export and import of XML documents.

Matisse remains the ultimate database for .NET as it simplifies and accelerates development through the fusion of native object support and SQL. Matisse offers an unequaled value proposition to .NET developers who require high performance on complex data that goes beyond the modeling capabilities of relational products.

Some of the specific advantages of Matisse 8 include:

  • Reduced application complexity with direct object-to-object mapping.
  • Simplified and accelerated development through the fusion of native object support and SQL.
  • Full remote administration of distributed Matisse database servers on a local network.
  • Significantly improved throughput and no logging burden with the unique versioning engine.
  • No schema modification downtime with dynamic schema evolution.
  • No need for a dedicated database administrator with the self-tuning and self-healing features of Matisse.
  • Future-proofed application development with comprehensive standards support and an extensible meta-model.
  • Flexible access to external data sources and application development and reporting tools with ODBC and JDBC support.
  • Protection for mission critical applications with 24x7 proven high availability through data replication with database mirroring and fault-tolerant database server.
  • Support for virtually all object languages with extensive language bindings and an open API.

Matisse 8.1 supports the popular server platforms with Windows, Linux and Solaris, J2EE and .NET frameworks, SQL and XML standards, and a broad range of language bindings including Java, C++, C, C#, VB.NET, Python, Perl, PHP, Smalltalk and Eiffel. Most language bindings are published as open source software.
